Arsenal USA Tour Squad Announced

Arsenal have announced their squad for their tour of the USA. The 33-man squad that Mikel Arteta will be taking to America is unfortunately lacking in Hale End graduates, notably the forms of Charlie Patino and Salah-Eddine Oulad M’Hand, who have impressed so far in pre-season.

Goalkeepers
Bernd Leno; Rúnar Alex Rúnarsson; Matt Turner; Aaron Ramsdale

Defenders
Héctor Bellerín; Kieran Tierney; Benjamin White; Gabriel Magalhães; Rob Holding; Cédric Soares; Takehiro Tomiyasu; Nuno Tavares; Pablo Marí; Reuell Walters; William Saliba

Midfielders
Thomas Partey; Martin Ødegaard; Emile Smith Rowe; Ainsley Maitland-Niles; Fábio Vieria; Albert Sambi Lokonga; Mohamed Elneny; Granit Xhaka; Lucas Torreira

Attackers
Bukayo Saka; Gabriel Jesus; Gabriel Martinelli; Eddie Nketiah; Nicolas Pépé; Reiss Nelson; Folarian Balogun; Marquinhos

There are notable inclusions, mainly in the form of new signings Marquinhos, Fábio Vieria, Matt Turner and Gabriel Jesus.

One of the more notable aspects of the squad, is that players like Héctor Bellerín, Pablo Marí, Bernd Leno, Nicolas Pépé, Ainsley Maitland-Niles, Lucas Torreira and Rúnar Alex Rúnarsson are all a part of the squad, despite their futures noticeably unclear.

There are some positives from the squad announcement. The inclusion of 17-year-old defender Reuell Walters is exciting to see. The Hale End prospect, who can play both as a central defender and as a full-back, has impressed Mikel Arteta greatly over the course of pre-season.

This will also be Arsenal fans’ first chance to see William Saliba in action. The French defender did make a solitary apperance for the team against MK Dons during pre-season two years ago, but will have a more prominent role in the squad moving forward, with rumours of a contract extension gathering pace.

Folarian Balogun and Bernd Leno are both in varying stages of departure. Balogun is thought to be negotiating a potential loan move for the forthcoming season, while Leno is currently on standby for the conclusion of his proposed move to Fulham.
